tone alley

Tone Alley is a DIY Risograph printing endeavor run by Woodlin Latocki in Minneapolis, MN. Printing with a RISO SF5130 and six ink colors, this studio produces original work and now offers print services to the public.

This practice seeks to evoke a deep feeling of atmosphere through light, shadow, color layering, fluorescence, and texture. Printing using an analog method – scanning physical artwork on the Riso like a photocopier – prints are infused with a signature layer of human touch and process noise.

This studio is named after an atmospheric sound file (tone_alley.wav) from the 2004 game Half Life 2 by Valve Corp.
