What is Riso printing?
The Risograph produces prints through a process similar to silkscreen and photocopying. Images are exposed as a stencil to an ink drum inside the machine, which makes impressions on the paper as it is fed through at high speed.
Countless color combinations can be achieved through layering the many vibrant ink colors unique to the Riso. Inks are soy-based and non-toxic, minimizing environmental impact when compared to other print methods.
Risograph printing is playful and experimental in nature, and since the process is built for speed and high output there are natural variations in texture and value that give the medium a distinct lo-fi charm. No two Riso prints are the same.
